Southern Getaway is more than a title—it’s a reflection of Hanley’s personal escape into the sounds that raised him. The project represents his time spent getting lost in old-school Southern hip hop, drawing inspiration from legends like Swisha House, UGK, DJ Screw, OutKast, Lil Flip, T.I., and so many others who defined an era and reshaped the music industry

For new listeners, this EP acts as an homage rather than a declaration of his primary sound. Although Southern Getaway stands on its own, Hanley recommends first-timers hear it as part of a wider creative journey—one that showcases just how versatile he has been throughout 2025. This year alone, he has moved through multiple styles: from the modern hip hop textures of Sideways Eight (produced entirely by CR8S), to the boom bap–drill–trap fusion of Memento Mori, to the raw, stripped-down feel of Que Sera, Sera, his most recent release.
Choosing a defining track from Southern Getaway isn’t simple because of how different each project has been, but Hanley identifies “Something To Say” as the one he relates to most. Through the lyrics, he reflects on how the South has always had a powerful voice in hip hop—and how today, the region plays one of the biggest roles in shaping the culture.
The influence of Southern hip hop is unmistakable across the EP. Every element is crafted to let listeners feel the bounce, energy, and spirit that shaped him as an artist. With Southern Getaway, Hanley simply wanted listeners to vibe and understand the depth of Southern hip hop’s influence on his sound.
Shortly after releasing Southern Getaway, Hanley followed up with Que Sera, Sera, continuing his creative momentum throughout 2025. And the year isn’t slowing down. Multiple collaborative EPs are already lined up: one with G.Dot Da Problem—produced entirely by Calvin KRhyme, the producer behind Memento Mori, Southern Getaway, and Que Sera, Sera—and another with Schemoh, featuring a lineup of diverse producers.
There’s also an EP with Chicago-based producer BrandNeu Beats, and an upcoming full-length album titled OGILVIE, produced entirely by Maine-based producer Don Magic. For fans of classic Houston aesthetics, a chopped & screwed version of Southern Getaway is also on the way.
As Hanley continues expanding his catalog, Southern Getaway stands as a heartfelt tribute—a return to the sounds that influenced his foundation, and a reminder of the South’s undeniable impact on who he is as an artist.
